A special day in Colorado Springs

Seeing the horrible photos of the fires devastating Colorado Springs I can’t help but feel involved. We lived in Pueblo for 6 months and spent a lot of time in the Springs. In fact, our wedding night was in a marvelous bed and breakfast at the Old Town GuestHouse in Old Colorado City just west of downtown. We had a marvelous view of Pikes Peak from our balcony with a 2-person hot tub there.

The next morning the rest of the family joined us for a hike at Garden of the Gods, a park with beautiful red rock formations.

While these natural land formations  will survive the fire, please keep in mind the hundreds of homes that have already been destroyed and the continued threat to people and their lives until the fires can be brought under control.

We had a forest fire come within a mile of our house in Utah. It’s pretty damned scary. My heart goes out to the folks caught in these fires.

  2. That must have been scary. I think if I lived anywhere in that city I would be packing my car and heading out.

I had my quadriplegic husband packed in the van along with photo albums and important documents for most of that day. Luckily the wind shifted that night and the fire headed away from us. Yes, it is extremely scary to watch a fire that makes huge trees literally explode in a ball of fire.
